Candidate Q&A: Amara Hildebrand, for HD28

Posted

Amara Hildebrand, candidate for House District 28

Profession: Civil Engineer and Small Business Owner

Residence: Lakewood

Party: Libertarian

What makes you the best choice for this office?

I am a doer who is more concerned with effecting change than focusing on partisan politics.

If elected, what would your top issue be?

Teaching American history in our schools.

If elected, what would you want to accomplish in order for you to consider the term a success?

Success for me would be to identify exactly where we can eliminate wasteful spending in our government and develop accountability measures for our elected officials.

Your view on TABOR reform efforts?

I do not support the TABOR reform efforts that have been introduced to date. I am supportive of less government and believe that we can find the much needed funds for education and transportation by reducing wasteful government spending. I am in support of Proposition 117.

The Red Flag law went into effect this year. Has it been a good law, and would you change anything?

I believe that the Red Flag law is a good theory, but it does not reduce crime in reality. Instead, I would focus on providing mental health screening and support services.
