At Faith Christian High School, fall is by far the busiest time of the sports calendar. Practices begin in early August and don't wrap up until Mid-November with over 100 games and meets in between. Boys Golf, Cross Country, Girls Softball, Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Cheer and Football are the sports Faith offers in the fall with this year over 125 students participating in those sports. Let's recap all the action from this Fall.

Boys Golf started us off this Fall with tournaments taking place even before the school year began. Eagles were led by first year coach Dr. David Strange who took over after Coach Bob Hicks retired after the previous season. Coach Strange had over 20 boys try out for 12 spots this Fall which made for a very competitive team. It was also exciting to see a strong group of Freshman golfers who will hopefully improve and drive the unit as the years go by. Faith failed to send a golfer to the state tourney this year, but the groundwork is laid for a strong and bright future ahead.

Cross-country was once again led by Head Coach Steve Urban who had his runners preparing all spring and summer for their fall meets. Faith has become a consistent and highly competitive team in the last few years and the Eagles are always competing for a top spot. The Eagles were able to send four runners to the 3A State Cross Country Meet in the Colorado Springs area, Senior Anna MacPhee, Junior Kaylie Bookout, Senior Zach Morris and Junior Alex Bepristis. Kaylie Bookout performed so well at the state meet she was named Honorable Mention All-State following the event.  

Girls Softball took the diamond this year under second year Head Coach Chip Donatone and a strong senior class. Faith Softball once again returned to its highly competitive ways and returned back to the 3A State Softball Playoffs. The Eagles finished with a winning record and competed against some of the top programs in the state this season. The team was led by Senior Brooklyn Donatone who performed so well during the season she was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Week in early October. The Eagles traveled to University High School for Regional action before seeing their season come to an end.

Boys Soccer had an amazing season under Head Coach Nick Arter. Faith Soccer had a dominant season in many ways which saw them once again reach the Final 8 in the 3A State Soccer Playoffs. The team's only losses came to 5A powerhouse Legacy and the 3A State Champion Roaring Fork and 3A Runner up Jefferson Academy. The Eagles were led by a strong Senior class including Jack Goodwin, Ayden Johnston, Christopher Furst and an exciting younger core. The Eagles finished 2nd in the ultra-competitive Metro Conference and recieved the 3rd overall seed in the 3A State Soccer Tournament.

Though Roaring Fork ended the boys season, they can look back and see that this truly was a great season.

Faith Football had an up and down season but finished the season on an upswing. The Eagles had a quick turnaround after playing in the spring last season due to Covid delays. Second year Head Coach Micah Connor had to manage a once in a lifetime challenge of finishing a season and immediately having to prepare for the next one. The Eagles also had one of the toughest schedules in all of 2A Football and that lead to a tough opening stretch of games and a 1-4 start to the season. To the Eagles credit they rebounded quickly and finished on a high note, winning their last 4 games of the season. Senior Cody Connor led all of 2A in tackles this season and Senior Noah Sederwall threw for over 1,000 yards.

Faith Football had a strong group of younger talent that will be exciting to watch next year and having a full off season will certainly lead to a return to the state playoffs.

Girls Volleyball had a tremendous season with a 20-win season and a return to the State Tournament for Eagles Volleyball. Head Coach Chris Powers took on a challenging schedule and it paid off as the Eagles were prepared for the challenging home stretch. Faith's only losses came to teams who qualified for the 3A State Tournament and from the powerhouse Patriot conference. Faith finished 2nd in the Metro Conference and earned the 9th overall seed for the 3A State Tournament. Faith hosted a regional and it was easily the most exciting athletic event of the fall. Faith needed 5 sets to defeat Pagosa Springs and had to come back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Delta in the Regional Championship. If you were in the gym that night, you felt the tension and excitement as the girls one the final point and qualified for State.

Faith traveled to the World Arena and won their opening set match over DSST Montview and took the #1 seed Resurrection Christian to the edge before losing. Faith finished in the Top 8 this season and had a fantastic season in which they should be proud of all they accomplished.

Girls Cheer under second year Head Coach Hailey Smith are beginning to re-establish a standard of hard work and school spirit. A very young squad of ladies joined the team this season but brought excitement to Friday night Football games. The girls also began to participate again in cheer competitions and will participate in the State Cheer Competition in Colorado Springs on Dec. 9.
