State 5A girls basketball: Wolves are in the field

AURORA -- Westminster High School has a seat at the table for the state girls 5A basketball tournament.

The Colorado High School Activities Association released the pairings March 8.

Westminster visits Valor Christian for a first-round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9. The winner gets either Denver South or Castle View in the second round Thursday, March 11.

WHS won five of nine games in this shortened season. Lex Trujillo averages almost 19 points a game for the Wolves. Frehman Brooke Gomez averages 9.1 rebounds per contest.

The Eagles are undefeated in 12 games this season. Haley Huard averages about 13 points per game. Macey Huard checks in at a touch less than 11 points per game.

The final four is set for Tuesday, March 16, for both genders. The finals are Friday, March 19, at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.
