Evergreen and Conifer boys soccer squads found time between snowstorms to get in the first games of the season for the 4A Jeffco League last week.

The Evergreen Cougars had a good start to the season, moving up to 2-0 on the season with wins over Pomona and league foe D’Evelyn. The game versus Pomona in particular showed off the Cougars’ offensive prowess, ending in a score of 6-2. Blaine Watkins and Landon Freeman both contributed two goals apiece, while Cody Couch and Cully Freeman both scored a goal apiece in the effort.

Freeman, a junior, was the deciding factor in the March 20 match against D’Evelyn too, scoring both of Evergeen’s goals in the 2-0 win.

The opening week of the season was not so kind to Conifer, which falls to 0-2, after being held scoreless by Golden and Wheat Ridge.
