Seniors turned their tassels and became graduates May 17 during the Ponderosa High School graduation at Echo Park Stadium in Parker.

This year, the school transitioned into the latin honor system for graduation, honoring students with summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude designations based on their GPA.

The event included presentations from the senior choir, the Ponderosa band and orchestra and from graduate Cara Colwell.

Principal Tim Ottman, who is retiring after 31 years at the school, gave his final speech in the role.

“I wish for each of you, the proud class of 2022, the joy and fulfillment that comes with achieving your goals and pursuing your dreams. You are our future,” Ottman said.

Ryan Hollingshead will be the next principal, he announced.

Superintendent Erin Kane accepted the class on behalf of the district before the graduates were announced.
