Police Blotter: Crime Calls from Feb. 22-28

Tuesday, Feb. 23 — Empire police took a report of attempted vehicle theft near the 100 block of East Park Avenue. The attempted theft apparently occurred the night before. The same day, Empire police took a report of packages stolen the night before from inside a parked car along East Clear Creek Drive. Later that night, the Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman in connection with both incidents.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 — Idaho Springs officers were dispatched to a local gas station for a report of an unwanted person. The clerk said a man came into the business and asked to use the restroom. About 15 minutes later, an employee went into the restroom and found the man sitting on the floor drinking alcohol. When the man was asked to leave, he reportedly started harassing the employee. Officers contacted him outside the gas station and gave him a warning not to return.

Wednesday, Feb. 24 — Georgetown police conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 70 for unregistered license plates. The driver was suspended with an attached protection order prohibiting contact with the passenger. The driver was arrested and booked into the county jail.

Thursday, Feb. 25 — An Idaho Springs officer received a call about a person believed to be intoxicated. The reporting party said the man was sitting in his vehicle outside a liquor store. Officers responded and found the man reportedly intoxicated, but just sitting in the vehicle without keys in his possession. The man was told not to drive. Later, when officers checked the man’s license, they found he had a protection order prohibiting him from consuming alcohol. Officers obtained a warrant for the violation of the protection order, and the case is open pending the warrant.

Saturday, Feb. 27 — Georgetown police responded to a theft in the 1800 block of Argentine Street. A delivery company delivered to the wrong location. No suspects have been identified in the theft of the merchandise once it was delivered.

Saturday, Feb. 27 — Idaho Springs officers were dispatched to a dirt parking lot for a criminal mischief complaint. A family was putting their child into a car seat when two vehicles entered the dirt lot and started driving in circles, kicking up dirt and rocks. This reportedly broke the rear window of the family’s vehicle and a rock hit the child. The vehicles left the area before officers arrived and no license plate information was available. The case remains open.

Saturday, Feb. 27 — Idaho Springs officers took a report of an assault at the police station. The reporting party said she’d been leaving her hotel room when she grabbed a jacket she believed was hers. She started walking out the door when a hotel employee grabbed her and said it was hers. The reporting party had apparently found narcotics and paraphernalia in the pockets, and police issued the employee a summons.
