Jefferson County, Colorado: THE OUTDOOR LAB FOUNDATION ANNOUNCED AND BEGAN SELLING TICKETS TO THEIR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER, AFTER DARK, ON WEDNESDAY JULY 15, ALERTING THE PUBLIC THIS WILL BE AN EVENT THE COMMUNITY HAS NEVER SEEN BEFORE. JOIN THE OUTDOOR LAB FOUNDATION ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 FROM 5-9 P.M. AT FLATIRONS COMMUNITY CHURCH IN GENESEE.
The Outdoor Lab program has been impacting student lives in Jefferson County for 64 years. As this program has evolved and continued to change with the community, the mission of the Outdoor Lab Foundation, has remained the same: All students attend Outdoor Lab, regardless of ability or disability, including ability to pay.
Each year, the Outdoor Lab Foundation hosts an annual fundraiser, After Dark, typically bringing over 300 Jefferson County Community members together. It is a night to celebrate this life-changing program while raising funds to support the Outdoor Lab student tuition assistance program. Over the past two years, Outdoor Lab Foundation has raised over $150,000 during this event.
This year’s event, with MC Marc Sallinger, reporter from 9News, will be an event the public has yet to see: a hybrid in-person and virtual event, selling both virtual and in-person tickets and tables. The community can expect a socially distanced and safe in-person event, with live music, food trucks, silent auction, live auction and breakout rooms, following all CDC and Jefferson County Public Health requirements. Virtual guests can expect to have the same experience, in the comfort of their own home. Virtual attendees can even participate in the silent and live auction. Virtual tables are being sold, offering a high-tech networking experience before the event begins.
Outdoor Lab Foundation is partnering with Leopold Bros. Distillery and Abrusci’s Fire and Vine, offering refreshments for both in-person and virtual attendees. Abrusci’s Fire and Vine will offer discounts on meal kits for all Outdoor Lab supporters who purchase a virtual ticket, and Leopold Bros. Distillery will teach you how to make the After Dark signature cocktail from the comfort of your own kitchen.

Paige Brophy, Executive Director of the Outdoor Lab Foundation says, “COVID-19 has brought it’s set of challenges for all organizations. Outdoor Lab Foundation staff and the Board of Directors did not want this to be a reason that we could not bring the community together, understanding this year’s event will look vastly different than years prior, as health and safety is our biggest priority. This is a community event that everyone looks forward to, and more importantly, moves the Outdoor Lab mission farther than ever imagined. Holding this year’s After Dark event at Flatirons Community Church in Genesee allows for in-person guests to be socially distanced, 6-feet apart, while tapping into their amazing streaming technology. We will be able to provide a once in a lifetime experience for our virtual guests. I can’t wait to see the borders we cross with this new opportunity in the virtual world.”
