One of the most serious threats to the Democracy of the United States is the lack of participation in voting. In many elections less than 50% of registered voters vote. In Colorado it is easy to vote because we have mail-in ballots and if you aren’t registered or don’t receive a ballot, you can register on voting day – Nov. 3 this year.
Citizens in autocratic, dictatorial countries can’t vote or they have only one choice – the leader currently in power. In order to restore the balance that our Constitution intends for a model democracy we all must vote.
The choice of candidates who you want to represent you should be YOUR choice. Your opinion on issues should be heard and the way to do that is to vote.
Why am I writing this three months prior to a general election? Because it provides time to study the issues and to get more information about the candidates.
Vote -it is not only a great privilege but a responsibility and a duty.
