Letter to the Editor: Trump as Nero

We have our own Nero, the Roman emperor who infamously played the fiddle as his city burned. Trump plays golf and whines about the election results as the coronavirus rages through his country, leaving at least 250,000 dead. He’s always been a disgrace; now he’s a deliberate menace to public health, not to mention democracy. It’s truly astounding and depressing that over 70 million voters thought this man, who cares first and foremost about himself, was fit to govern our country for another four years. These votes, Republican efforts to invalidate Biden’s victory, and the Trump administration’s abject surrender on the virus front is the truest sign yet we are a nation in decline.
