Letter to the editor: For the record

This continued assault on our democracy in attempting to overturn the election to assuage Trump’s ego is beyond pathetic and crosses into dangerous territory. None of this could take place without the supine and cowardly majority of the Republican Party who refuse to defend the Constitution while caving into Trump’s attack on our democracy. Time for this to stop!

Trump lost by a lot with only himself to blame. Every President faces a crisis and Trump, a man without an ounce of empathy and 20,000+ lies to his credit, was obviously unable to conduct a competent strategy to combat a virus taking lives equivalent to a 9/11 a day! By just endorsing mask wearing, he could’ve shown leadership and understanding of the problem. In turn, tens of thousands of our citizen’s lives might’ve been saved. This insane mask/anti-mask nonsense currently raging in our country could’ve been avoided.Instead he recommended ingesting bleach to combat the virus.

It is clear Trump’s ego, not the Constitution, are paramount as he continues to undermine our democracy. This “election fraud” propaganda campaign is just his next con, fleecing supporters to fund the fight. A billionaire could fund this himself it were important to him. In reality, this is his next “business venture”.

Trump is now 1 and 51 in these tragically frivolous lawsuits. If the Broncos team had a quarterback with this abysmal record, the fans would demand a new quarterback. It is long past time to change stop this game and this quarterback.

Tom Sabel,

Lakewood
