If you left the lengthy hearing regarding the future of White Fence Farm, you're in luck. The hearing will be continued.
On Jan. 15, a hearing took place before Lakewood's Board of Adjustment where Lakewood's interpretation of the city's zoning regulations regarding developer Crescent Communities' plan to turn the former White Fence Farm restaurant into the Novel at White Fence Farm apartment complex was the topic of discussion. Under the name the Unified Under the Wilson Property ODP (official development plan) a group of Lakewood residents near White Fence Farm are alleging the apartment complex would violate an official development plan for the Wilson Property. The property is an 80-acre piece of land on Jewell Boulevard that includes White Fence Farm. The former restaurant is located at 6263 W. Jewell Ave.
The meeting was packed with residents, and it lasted around five hours inside the Council Chambers at 480 S. Allison Parkway. Attorneys for Crescent Communities, the Unified Under the Wilson Property ODP and Lakewood sparred throughout the night over interpretations of Lakewood's zoning code and how the ODP correlates to the proposed Novel at White Fence Farm development.
The project is currently in the concept phase, and Lakewood's Board of Adjustment will continue the meeting and possibly come to a consensus over the Unified Under the Wilson Property ODP's allegations at a Jan. 22 meeting. The meeting will take place at 480 S. Allison Parkway at 7 p.m.
