Lakewood High School's class of 2022 celebrated major accomplishments and new beginnings during an indoor ceremony May 20 in the school's gymnasium.

The ceremony was originally to be held at the North Area Athletic Complex (NAAC), but mother nature had other ideas. Parents, friends, relatives and alumni alternated between cheering for graduating seniors and fanning themselves with ceremony programs, in an atempt to beat the heat brought on by a glitchy air conditioner caused by storm-related power outages earlier in the day.
But having spent more than two years of their four-year high school journey in the throes of a global pandemic, no last-minute change of venue or malfunctioning AC could steal the joy of graduates who had worked so hard during one of the most challenging times for students in recent memory.
